1862. Marriage solemnized at St James Church in the Parish of Islington in the County of Middlesex | No. | When Married | Name and Surname | Age | Condition | Rank or Profession | Residence at the Time of Marriage | Father's Name and Surname | Rank or Profession of Father | 62 | April 13th | George Marshall | full age | Widower | Labourer | St James Holloway | William Marshall | Laborer | Mary Almond | full age | Spinster | - | St James Holloway | Joseph Almond | Carpenter | Married in the Church of St James according to the Rites and Ceremonies of the Established Church after Banns by me, C.J. Hutt, Off[iciatin]g Minis[te]r | This Marriage was solemnized between us | George Marshall | in the Presence of us | (Richard / Reuben / William?) Parkins [first name illegible] | Mary Almond | Mary Ann Parkins |
This marriage has been linked to the George baptised in 1818 at Kimpton on the basis that the censuses show he married a second time between 1861 and 1871 to a Mary, and there is no plausible marriage in either the Hitchin or Luton registration districts in that period. This marriage however, is witnessed by people named Parkins (which was also the name of the executor of George's will), has the right father's name and occupation, and appears to be to someone who was also from the Breachwood Green area where George had lived before.
