Birth Place of Children

It is difficult to determine exactly where the children were born. Their birth dates are given in the minutes of the New Garden Monthly Meeting (Quaker) in Guilford County, North Carolina[5], recorded after they were admitted there. However, it appears that they were born elsewhere.

Based on Quaker Meeting Records of the Fairfax Monthly Meeting (Loudoun County, Virginia)[2], the family moved back and forth between Frederick County, Virginia (Hopewell Monthly Meeting) and Loudoun County, Virginia in the late 1740's and early 1750's, before removing to Guilford County, North Carolina in Aug/Sep 1754[3][4]. They had also been in Maryland, as the 31 Mar 1754 meeting of the Fairfax Monthly Meeting required him to "Settle all his Affairs at pipe Creek"[3] before moving to North Carolina.

According to Colonial Families of the United States of America, George's grandfather went from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania to Frederick County, Virginia in 1737[6], so it is possible that some of George's children were born in Pennsylvania.
