The marriage of Francis Sayre and Elizabeth Atkins is recorded in the parish register of Leighton Buzzard, November 15, 1591. The records of this place begin in 1562, and continue until 1615, when there is a break until 1640. A careful search of these records was made for the birth of Francis Sayre and of his wife, Elizabeth Atkins, but neither was found recorded. Francis was probably born at Podington, the records of which do not begin until 1602.

Francis Sayre was a mercer, or "silkman", as he is denominated in the taxroll of 1609-10.

We know nothing further concerning Francis Sayre except that he continued to reside at Leighton and died intestate in 1645, his widow Elizabet h being appointed administratrix of his estate in April of that year, as appears from the record in the Prerogative Court of Canterbury, Administration Act Book A.D. 1645, folio 39.

The baptismal records of Leighton Buzzard give the names of children of Francis Sayre and Elizabeth Atkins.
