"Even Walter Goodwin Davis in his carefully reaseched book, [ Source:Davis, Walter Goodwin. Ancestry of Sarah Johnson, 1775-1824, Wife of Joseph Neal of Litchfield, Maine ], repeats the statement that Francis2 Nurse married Sarah Tarbell in Salem, Massachusetts, on 15 January 1685, a marriage not found in the published Salem vital records." [emphasis added]. Suspect origin of this myth is "A Genealogy of the Nurse Family", in Source:Putnam's Monthly Historical Magazine (Eben Putnam), Vol. 1, p. 96. Cites NEHGR, p. 61:70, which showed Sarah Tarbell married Cornelius Church. Cites Middlesex Probate 5296, where the will of John Craggen Sr of Woburn, dated 30 May 1704 names son in law Francis Nurse.
