  3.   Source:Barry, William. History of Framingham, Massachusetts, Including the Plantation, from 1640 to the Present Time in 1847 suggested that Agnes died without issue, and that Edward's children were by his second wife, Anna. This was repeated by Source:Ward, Andrew Henshaw. Genealogical History of the Rice Family : Descendants of Deacon Edmund Rice, Who Came from Barkhamstead, England and Settled at (1858) and Source:Hudson, Charles. History of the Town of Marlborough, Middlesex County, Massachusetts (1862). It is a little surprising that this error would be made, as a common colonial spelling of Agnes is Annis, both of which are variants of Ann (see, for example, wikipedia article on Agnes). Factually, "The Bent Family" by Allen H. Bent in NEHGR, p. 48:289, points out that the will of John Bent, dated 14 Sep 1672, mentions "Agnis Rice my daughter", so she was alive at that point in time, and hence the mother of all of Edward's children. (A full transcription of this will is given in Source:Bent, Allen Herbert. Bent Family in America, p. 257-8.)
