    Edmund Freeman m. (1) by 1679 Ruth Merrick, who d. abt. 1680. Edmund's will named daughter Ruth first in naming his daughters. Ruth Merrick's father William Merrick treated "Grand Child Ruth ffreeman" same as his children, implying she was only heir of a deceased daughter, i.e., the only offspring of this marriage, and not by his second marriage to Sarah Mayo.
