The record of the baptism of Stephen, son of Jared Cone, in the Middletown church records, states that the father ("Gerhard") "was bp. at Christ Church, Hartford; …". It is likely that the baptism of Jared and his three older siblings all occurred at the First Church of Hartford, but that the records are lost. The five younger children were baptized at Middletown. All nine, with the possible of the eldest, appear to have been born at Haddam.[2]
