In 1880, Sarah and Daniel were living next door to her parents and her sister Mary. It appears that they divorced or separated in the early to mid 1880s, with Sarah following her sister Mary to California (Mary moved in between the time her daughter was born in Missouri in December 1878 and her son was born in California in December 1882.) Sarah apparently took her youngest son Charlie with her (b. Jan. 1883), or at least he lived with her as a teenager, whereas their daughters both married back in Daviess County.
