Mathias James Kellner went by the name "Matt" He was the 6th of 7 children to be born to Charles Mathias Kellner and Mary Downey. Matt's mom died when he was 3 years old. His father remarried one year later on Sept 25, 1904 to Nora McCathy @ Transfiguration R.C.Church 263 Marcy Ave in Brooklyn, New York. Charles and Nora then had 7 children together 5 boys and 2 girls. Matt's step mother Nora died of TB on August 26, 1920 @ St. Anthony's. His father never remarried. 1920 census shows Matt working as a Deck hand on a Tugboat in the NY Harbor. Matt married Matilda Hoffelder in 1921 and had a son in 1925 1930 census shows Matt as a Tugboat Pilot- Captain his wife worked as a sales lady in a bakery in Brooklyn. Her mother lived with them and took care of their child during the day. Matt died of TB on May 8, 1932 A life cut short.
