Charles S Colby, 26, and wife Katie, 25, live in Wiscasset, Maine. They have one son, [Person:Charles Colby (7)|Orrin]], age 3. His brother, Jacob R Colby, age 29, along with wife Jessie, 23, lives next door with their son Jacob E, age 1. Jacob and Charles Colby are both sailors.^S1

1900 Census

Chas S Colby, 45, and wife Catherine, 45, live at 105 Winship St. in Bath, Maine. They have been married for 26 years and have six children, all living with them. Charles Colby was born in May 1854; Catherine was born in Feb 1855. Charles Colby's occupation is somewhat illegible, but he is probably noted as a ship fastener. They own their home, which is mortgaged. Children are:

• Chas O, born Dec 1876, 23.
• Frederick N, born Jan 1882, 18, a ship carpenter.
• Jas W, born Dec 1883, 16, grocery clerk.
• Alice N, born April 1888, 12, attends school.
• Clara E, born Sep 1891, 8, attends school.
• Lillian L, born Dec 1898, 1.

All family members are born in Maine, although Catherine's mother is noted as being born in England.
