    Wines, Barbabas2 (1636-1711>) & Mary --- (-1727, ae 89) [no date]
[Cites Wickham-Billard, p. 180: which gives Barnbas Wine's will dated 24 Mar 1695/96 naming wife Mary, and suggests she is "probably" the widow Mary Wines who d. Southold 13 Jan 1727. Cites Christophers, p. 7, which mentions deed given in Totten NYGBR article above. Also cites the above Totten NYGBR article directly. Also cites NYGBR 80:26 (not available to me, does this mean NYGBR 80:216-218 where the will of Barnabas Wines is reported to have been published?)]

  3.   It is reported in several sources (including Source:Ham, Frank Mapes. Mapes Family in America) that Barnabas Wines married Mary Mapes daughter of Thomas Mapes, but this was disproved in Source:New England Historical and Genealogical Register, p. 159:127, "Mary (Mapes) Wines, Daughter of Thomas Mapes of Southold, Long Island, New York" by Daniel F. Stramara, Jr. Mary Mapes married Barnabas' brother Samuel. A footnote points out that, ironically, there are claims that both brothers married women named Mary Mapes: Barnabas the daughter of John, and Samuel the daughter of Thomas. The claim for Barnabas and the daughter of John is not mentioned further as the article is focused on the wife of Samuel Wines. However, the evidence that is usually presented in support of Mary Mapes as the wife of Barnabas Wines is shown by this article to apply to the wife of Samuel Wines.
