Alvin was born November 10, 1865 in Callaway County, Missouri.Alvin Edgar Holmes first married Mattia Jane "Mattie" Sweeten[1][2], daughter of Sarilda Jane Price and Augustus Toplady Sweeten, in Callaway Co. on October 10, 1893. Alvin Edgar Holmes was buried on June 9, 1945 in Guthrie Cemetery, Callaway County, Missouri. His cemetery marker is shown on the Find-A-Grave website.
