(In his usual style, Savage interpreted this date of marriage as 8 February 1652 [Savage, 3:271, 504]. Since Abraham Newell Junior had a son Joseph born at Roxbury on 30 October 1651 and buried there on 10 December 1651, Savage assumed that Abraham had had an otherwise undocumented wife prior to Susanna Rand. If, however, we interpret the marriage date as 8 February 165[0/]1, then child Joseph would have been born just a few days short of nine months after the marriage.)
