Person

The child list corresponds to the commonly accepted children of Person:James Walker (102) son of Robert Walker the immigrant of the Letterkenney Walkers. The fact that John McClintock witnesses the will suggests that the will is for a McClintock kinsman. James, believed to be the fourth son of this James 102, married Ann McClintock, and moved to the Carolina Cradle. John McClintock could be Ann's father, or perhaps brother.

Commentary

There is a substantial gap between the Will date (1750), and the probate date (1779). If these data are taken at face value we are left with several questions, most important of which is:

  • When did this James Walker die?

Perhaps he died close to 1750, but some question arose at a later date, and that lead to the 1779 probate record.
Perhaps he survived until shortly before 1779, and did not update his will.

The gap between will date and probate date could also indicate that the will is for a different person than was discussed in the probate record. To resolve this a copy of both the will (See:Transcript:Will of James Walker, 1750, Cumberland County, PA), and the probate record is needed.[Probate record still needed.
