to learn about Darby Township of Delaware County, Pennsylvania. Most of the names mentioned in the Margaret Lightfoot Will of 1732 are discussed.

This is a reference for History of Delaware County, Pennsylvania by Henry Graham Ashmead, Philadelphia, 1884. It is a powerhouse of fine print with hundreds of names.

It is very clear that Margaret Lightfoot's Will is mentioning mostly in-laws, neighbors, and close kin. However, I could discover no Huston's in Darby Township. The three townships of our interest are Darby, Concord, and Upper Chichester. Familiar names appear in all of these townships with some names appearing in more than one of the townships.

Margaret Lightfoot mentions Jacob Simcock. I could discover no connection to him. Apparently, he was the son of John Simcock, founder of Ridley Township.

The family of Sarah Bethel eventually marrys into the family of John Houston who settled at Wrights Ferry on the Susquehanna River. One researcher on this line gives a different line of descent for Robert Houston, grandfather of famous Samuel Houston. Probably incorrect, but may explain some of the unidentified Houstons in early Augusta County.
