The compass is of course divided into 4 quadrants: NE, SE, SW and
NW. Each of these quadrants is divided into 8 angles. Using the NE
quadrant as an example, the divisions are:
N by East 11 degrees, 15 minutes
North North East 22 degrees, 30 minutes
N.E. by N. 33 degrees, 45 minutes
N.E. 45 degrees, 0 minutes
N.E. by E. 56 degrees, 15 minutes
E.N.E. 67 degrees, 30 minutes
E by N 78 degrees, 45 minutes
East 90 degrees, 0 minutes
