Hi Ragtimelil, the template is {{Speedy Delete|reason|date}} where you substitute the reason and the current date. If you happen to be looking at this page from the edit screen, do not include the "nowiki" tags (they are only there to display the template correctly). --Jennifer (JBS66) 12:06, 10 August 2012 (EDT)

User name on Speedy Delete page [3 December 2012]

Can anyone tell me why a User name would end up on the main Speedy Delete page? I was scanning through the page and realized that mine was there and I was curious as to why that might be.--Khaentlahn 15:54, 3 December 2012 (EST)

You placed the following text on your user page to describe how to add a page to Speedy Delete - [[Category:Speedy Delete|Speedy Delete]]. That inadvertantly put your page into the Speedy Delete category instead. Error in naming a place [30 October 2017]

I have made a terrible mistake re [[Place:Breconshire, Wales|Breconshire, Wales]]--which is a County. Wikipedia name it as Brecknockshire and I was going to rename our placename to match it. Instead, I made a typo and called it "Brenockshire". I tried to change it back, but was told that Breconshire already existed, and the same thing happened if I tried to go to Brecknockshire as I had planned.

I then rewrote (expanded) the description of Breconshire and saved it under Breconshire.

Although all the places within the county still have Breconshire as part of their names, but they are sitting under Brenockshire (the original error).

Along with trying to unpick a mistake that I am responsible for, I am wondering why I was not warned that I could not change the name of a place which had contained places.

The basic thing that needs to be done is to link my new description for Breconshire to the same page as its Contained Places (or vice versa). The new description starts with a note explaining that Brecknockshire is also a viable name, but FamilySearch chose Breconshire.

I have made pages outside of WR for the list of Contained Places and for my new description.
