Dugger in Tennessee

Supposed siblings William Dugger (1750), Julius Dugger (1760), and Mary Dugger Goodin (1750/60), and their probable step-mother Mary moved from Wilkes Co., NC into what is now Carter Co., TN in the 1780's. They are the first Duggers to live in Tennessee as far as can be determined. Ramsey wrote about a Julius Dugger who was there in 1766, but there is no evidence such a person ever existed.

The next batch of Duggers to enter Tennessee were the families of John Dugger (1749) and his brother Alexander Dugger (1752). John and family appeared in Sumner Co., TN as early as 1800, while Alexander and family were in Greene Co., TN as early as 1804.
