Dugger in North Carolina

William Dugger (c1720-c1773) appears to be the first Dugger in North Carolina, appearing in Granville County in 1752, remaining there through ca 1758 before going back to Virginia for a few years. He was in Surry Co., NC by 1771. He lived in the region that later became Wilkes Co., NC. His descendants remained in that area as well as just across the state line in what is now Carter and Johnson Counties, Tennessee.

John Dugger (c1741-c1810) appears to be the second of his surname in North Carolina, appearing in Granville Co., NC in 1762. He later moved to Brunswick Co., NC (now Columbus Co., NC) and most of his children moved to Georgia around 1800-1810.

James Dugger (c1747-1783) was in Pitt Co., NC in 1775, but returned to Brunswick Co., VA pretty quickly.

Some of the other Duggers from Brunswick and Mecklenburg Co., VA made brief forays into North Carolina in the early 1800's.
