John Brooks found on 1860 census of Giles Tennessee indicates father from Holland and mother from France. John married Roxanna Permilia Smith that year and moved to Texas, working as a tailor. John was born in 1837 Pennsylvania. John died in Texas of tuberculosis; his widow remarried and returned to TN. His son John married Annie Clark Ballard in Tennesee, and migrated into Montgomery Alabama. Annie's son James, was her only child, and married Susie Mae Cooper. Susie named a son James Jr. and he married Mary Ella Thornton. The parents of Mary Ella Thornton Brooks were Bessie Mae Hood and Milton Elijah Thornton. |
