Old Augusta

Two lines of Blacks appear in the records of Old Augusta.

William (55)

The first of t his line in Old Augusta is [[Person:Alexander Black (11), whois believed to have been born about 1710 at sea, during his parents immigration to America. His fathers name is commonly given as William, but original source supporting documentation is lacking. Nonetheless, he is believed to settled in Old Chester PA, about 1710. We identify William as the Immigrant Patriarch, Person:William Black (55) but this should be regarded as a placeholder, pending further research.

Samuel (32), whose documentation is incomplete
William (39), who moved to Clark County KY by 1792
Alexander (7), who moved to Clark County KY by 1790

John (38)

The Patriarch for this line is Person:John Black (38). According to family genealogists, John is believed to have been born in Argyllshire, or perhaps Edinburgh, Scotland, about 1675. He immigrated sometime before 1705 to Ireland. He had four sons, three of whom emigrated to America about 1734. They settled on the Forks of the Brandywine until about 1739, when they moved to Old Augusta.

Person:John Black (42) settled on Beverley Manor before 1743
