[edit] AnalysisDaniel (14)'s parents are believed to be John Walker of the Stand of Pilkington and Elizabeth, based on a death record for daughter ElizabethElizabeth Walker dau of Daniel Walker who was son of John Walker of the Stand of Pilkington by Eliz: his wife, departed 1 Jul 1714. The phrasing "Daniel...son of John Walker...by Eliz: his wife" is slightly ambiguous. As given here Elizabeth is probably intended to be interpreted as the wife of John, but it is possible that the author meant that she was the wife of Daniel. In anycase, this passage makes it clear that Daniel's father was John Walker of the Stand of Pilkington. The Stand of Pilkington is a location in Lancashire, England. On this basis we can guess that Daniel was probably borne in the Stand of Pilkington. However, the sourceing for this information leaves much to be desired. The intermediate source for the quote does not explicitly identify the name of the author, or the year of publication. There are apparently several works entiled "History of Talbot County", and we have not been able to identify which one this quote is found in. Moreover, the photocopy image of the pages within which this quote appears does not show where the information came from originally. It looks to be an extract from a church record of some sort, but we don't know that for sure. Without this information we can't adequately judge the accuracy of the information. The identification of his father as John Walker of Stand of Pilkington seems justifiedis being accepted provisionally until better sourceing is available. That said, John Walker of Pilkington is not the only candidate for Daniel's father---just the "best" documented one. Another candidate for his parents identity is a Peter Walker and Alice Woods who are believed to have been early settlers in Accomack County VA, on Virginia's Eastern Shore. Currently, only tertiary sources have been located to identify the existence of this couple, and no documentation has been found to show that they even had a son named Daniel, let alone that this son moved from Accomack County VA to Talbot County MD. There is some reason to believe that this Peter Walker is at least related to Daniel. Though we can not document it in anything other than tertiary sources, some genealogists hold that this particular Peter Walker came from the town of Prestwich in Lancashire County, England. Not only is Prestwich in the the same County as Pilkington, it is located within three miles of the latter town. It seems likely that if the birthplaces of these two men can be borne out, then their appearance on the Eastern Shore at about the same time is not coincidental, but indicative of a family relationship.
